This year one of our favourite wine houses, Torreon de Paredes, has had its name in lights! Four varieties have won accolades with the Reserva Privada Cabernet Sauvignon earning a silver award.
Located in the Central Valley at the upper reaches of the Cachapoal Valley, Torreon de Paredes is one of Chile’s most historic wine-growing valleys. The Torreon winery lies the town of Rengo, protected by a mountain range that keeps the area cooler and arider than the rest of the Valley. Not only is this a stunning backdrop to the winery but also a dramatic contrasts between day and night temperatures which result in richer, juicier grapes.
And The Silver Decanter Wine Awards 2020 Goes To…
Reserva Privada Cabernet Sauvignon! This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon scored 90 points from the judges, who clearly picked up on the vibrant herbaceous nose of blackcurrant leaf and capsicum, the juicy acidity and fine firm tannin.
The Other Winners
Torreon de Paredes had three Bronze winners at the awards as well. From the Reserva Privada range, the Merlot and Chardonnay grapes both came up with top scores, as well as the Reserva Sauvignon Blanc. All three scored 86 points, just missing out on Gold status.
